Mobile Messaging VAS Platform

Customer: Central European Operator

.The challenge

The operator wanted to create a way to develop new services and enable third parties to distribute content over the operator’s network as a way to generate new revenues.

.The solution

HERMES SoftLab conceived, designed and implemented a messaging based mobile services platform. The Messaging VAS platform was the initial step for establishing a successful partnership-like relationship with a leading mobile operator in the Adriatic region. In several stages and in cooperation with the operator’s R&D and IT departments, HERMES SoftLab implemented a carrier-grade platform that has enabled the operator to launch a number of revenue-generating SMS and MMS services for both pre-paid and post-paid subscribers.

The main benefit of the platform is that the operator is able to quickly launch new services and allow local and international service and content partners access their network with new offerings in a dramatically reduced time frame, including services such as: logos, ringtones, m-cards, infoservices –news, weather, horoscopes, etc-, postcards, advertising, web SMS/MMS pusher, etc.

Implemented in different stages, the platform provides functionality such as:

  • Connectivity to SMS, MMS Centers

  • SMS, MMS Pull and Push functionalities

  • Billing engine with rich billing capabilities and connectivity to post-paid and pre-paid billing systems

  • E-Services gateway for external service/content providers (M-Gate)

  • Authentication and Authorization services

  • Connectivity to Mobile Subscriber Profile Management (part of BSS solution)

  • Content Management module with support for LBS functionality

  • Operation and Maintenance module

.Key benefits

  • Design and launch new revenue-generating services in very short time frames

  • Ability for the operator to connect third party content and services in a secure, open and transparent way

  • Introduce new services and offering with no impact on existing platforms and systems
